PGD of Translocations
Translocations and other chromosome rearrangements can be
diagnosed by PGD using FISH with custom made probe cocktails
involving three to four probes. Test with two probes,
offered by other centers, may miss some segregation
patterns.
Before a PGD cycle can start, blood studies from the carrier
as well as extensive preparation of the test is necessary,
and therefore these tests should be scheduled well in
advance of the IVF procedure. These tests are coordinated
through our genetic counselor.
PGD for translocations can be combined with PGD for
aneuploidy, but priority will be given to obtaining
translocation results. For preparing and scheduling a PGD
case please follow our "PGD for translocation information
booklet".
